A column of black smoke visible for miles. It was 8:50 p.m., Thursday August 11, 2022, when a fire broke on the union site Tri Orrue Louis-Pasteur, at Champagne-sur-Oise (Val d’Oise).
Composting plant
Under circumstances that remain to be determined, the fire broke out at the composting plant, in a cylinder ensuring the first passage of household waste.
Forty firefighters put out the blaze using a foam nozzle and two water nozzles.
The intervention lasted 4h30 and a volume of 50 m3 of garbage burned.
Collections not impacted
“The administrative services, the bulky waste processing hall, the
sorting center and the waste disposal center were not impacted, indicates the Tri Or union in a press release dated Thursday, August 12. Part of the composting plant burned down, causing a complete shutdown of activity pending the visit of experts scheduled for Tuesday 16
august. The Syndicate, like the operators, do their utmost to provide
quality public service. »
Thus, the waste treatment union ensures that “all collections continue to be carried out at the usual rates; household waste will be treated on another site (the Sarcelles incinerator and the Bouqueval landfill are currently selected); the waste disposal centre, the bulky waste processing hall and the center
sorting are working normally”.
