Fire at meat processor Bodegraven finally extinguished | Inland

BODEGRAVEN

The fire brigade was busy all day Sunday. The fire appeared to be largely extinguished in the evening, but flared up again later. The fire was brought under control shortly after 11 p.m., but it took a long time to put out the fire. The building contains many cold stores and small rooms that had to be broken open one by one to get to the fire.

The fire produced a lot of smoke. On Sunday afternoon, a speed limit was imposed on the A12 motorway for two and a half hours due to smoke nuisance. Due to the smoke development, an NL-Alert was sent out. That was canceled with the fire master’s signal, but with the fire flaring up, the security region tweeted on Sunday evening: “We are not finished yet: once again the advice to keep windows and doors closed if you are bothered by the smoke.”

Only the doorman was in the building when the fire broke out. He got out safely.
