Fire occurred at K-Link Tower in Setiabudi, South Jakarta (Jaksel). Even though there was a wedding reception in the building.
The fire started on the seventh floor of the building. Meanwhile, the wedding reception was held on the fifth floor.
One of the bride’s family, Darwin Simarmata (51), said that at around 10.00 WIB, he heard the building officials announce that there was a fire in the building. That’s when the panic started.
“Received notification from the officers, but not all at once. They only said, ‘Get off! Get off!’. So, it’s not a whole floor to get information,” Darwin told reporters at the location, Saturday (15/7/2023).
Hearing that, Darwin admitted that he was very panicked. He went down using the fire escape to save his family.
“I don’t know if the elevator is active or not. It’s just that we waited a long time, everyone was chasing the escalator. So from there we went down, some passed through the car park, some went down to the bottom. That’s all. But everyone panicked, because this management not immediately proactive,” he said.
Darwin said that at first he did not know about the condition of the fire, which was informed by officials. He admitted that he even saw from the news about the condition of the fire that occurred.
“If I saw news from a friend on the other side of this incident, it turned out that the fire was very high and blazing. There we have not received any information (about the fire),” he said.
While still in the building, Darwin admitted that he did not hear the fire alarm going off. He heard the sound of the alarm just as he was getting down to save himself.
“Honestly, no (an alarm sounded). But, as soon as I took the car out of the 4B floor until it came down here, this portal remained closed, so I finally got out, opened it like this. I only saw this fall (debris) just a little bit, is that possible?” kring kring kring ‘yes, that’s when the sound started,” he explained.
Another family member, Junaidi, said that at that time around 60 people consisting of family members and the bride and groom rushed down. They all went down the emergency stairs
“Yes, what trouble, because of fighting aja. just level“My feet never get tired, it hurts,” he complained.
Fire at K-Link Tower
Previously, a fire occurred at K-Link Tower. The fire is known to have occurred at 10.05 WIB today.
Kasiops of the South Jakarta Fire Department, Triyanto, said the blackout was finished at around 12.10 WIB. The blackout began at around 10.45 WIB.
“So if our capacity is only to convey that the fire is over, it’s safe. The rest will be the responsibility of the building management,” Triyanto told reporters at the K-Link Tower, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, Saturday (15/7/2023 ).
Three people were victims of the fire. All three victims suffered minor burns.
Triyanto said the three victims were immediately rushed to the hospital for medical treatment. Some were treated at the Medistra Hospital and the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Mampang.
“There are no fatalities. There are three injured, two have been treated by the hospital, and the others have been able to go home,” he said.
