About ninety guests were evacuated this morning after a fire broke out in a hotel on Beursstraat. Two rooms suffered significant fire damage. No one was injured.
The fire broke out on the third floor this morning around 8:00 am. Because it was a fire in the center, the fire brigade scaled up as a precaution. Around 9:30 a.m., a fire brigade spokesperson announced that the fire had been extinguished.
According to the fire brigade, two rooms in the hotel suffered significant fire damage. Another two rooms have water damage as a result of the extinguishing. The rest of the rooms have now been released.
This means that the ninety guests who had to leave can now return to the hotel. The guests were welcomed for hours this morning in an adjacent restaurant.
It is still unclear what caused the fire.
