Fire at a special education school in Haren

Last night there was a fire in a school building in Haren, Groningen. The fire started in the school yard and in an adjacent building.

The fire was at a school for special education on Dilgtplein. As far as we know, no one was injured. The fire brigade had the fire under control by midnight.

On pictures RTV North it can be seen that the flames and clouds of smoke were also visible from the city of Groningen. The fire brigade is still carrying out demolition work at the school to ensure that all fires are extinguished.

In about a week and a half, the summer holidays will be over for schools in the north of the country. It is not clear whether lessons can be given again at the school in Haren.
