The fire brigade moved out – alerted by passers-by – around 11.30 a.m. to Heiligenstädter Strasse at the corner of Gunoldstrasse, reported fire brigade spokesman Lukas Schauer. The emergency services immediately prepared a safety cushion. In the end they saved the guy with a turntable ladder before he let go.
He was handed over to the Vienna Professional Rescue Service for emergency medical care and taken to a hospital with suspicion of slight smoke poisoning. Two other residents were also cared for in the disaster train, but could be released into home care.
The cause of the fire is unclear
At the same time as rescuing people, a respiratory protection team penetrated the stairwell into the apartment on fire and extinguished the flames with an extinguishing pipe. Other fire brigades controlled the other apartments in the house. The fire apartment and the staircase were pressurized with high-performance fans and thus made smoke-free. The cause of the fire is the subject of an investigation.
