A tough start to the championship for Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora which in the first few days found itself facing the battleships of group F of the national Serie B championship.
On Saturday, on the BBC Colli Albani Genzano Roma pitch, the verdict was one-sided, a 3-0 which honors the current league leaders, a team made up of players accustomed to the category, and some even to higher ones, set up to achieve ambitious goals and important goals. For her part, Sora was on the pitch with her head and her heart and, as coach Fabio Corsetti tells us, from this test which apparently seems clear and without the right of reply, her boys still bring something important home.
“We played a good match, it wasn’t all to throw away apart from the score which was perhaps a little too harsh. By saving the first set in which we played on equal terms against a team that we knew was a battleship in the group, among the 3-4 best teams in this group, we did not fail. In front of us we had players accustomed to the category who demonstrated that they are what they are, that is, a step above. This must be said just as it must be said that we shouldn’t beat ourselves up over a defeat like this. It was a race that taught us how complicated this category can be, but despite this we made significant steps forward compared to last week’s race.”
At the starting six coach Fabio Corsetti lines up D’Angeli in the control room opposite Paris, Caschera R. and Caschera C. in the center of the net, captain Mauti and Petri in place 4, Proietto free in the reception phase and Iafrate in the defense phase .
The guest technical guide, Mr. D’Alessio, responds with Paolucci on the opposite dribble to Colarco, the hammers Della Rosa and Sablone, Antonucci and Mancini in place 3, and Recupito libero.
The match opens with a Petri wall on Colarco and an attack by Paris, but the opponent’s response immediately is a 4-0 break. The point-to-point accompanies the teams to 7-6 but on serve it is Paolucci’s turn who is really dangerous in the fundamentals and in fact gives his team the +4 of 10-6. Globo tries to break up their game and succeeds but struggles to find the break, and when Paolucci returns again on the nine meters, the second important break arrives, the one that makes it 20-13. Sora bends but doesn’t break and with the new player Ciardi, first blocking and then attacking, he closes the gap to 21-17. Antonucci gives his team 5 set balls, Petri cancels one but then Sablone closes it 25-20.
The second set starts breathlessly for the Bianconeri who remain in awe until the 7-0 scored by Della Rosa’s serve. They finally find a space to interrupt the positive streak but the furrow dug in the score is deep and the Volley School Genzano is in jackhammer mode in any offensive phase. So all Roman trajectories aim straight for 2-0.
In the third game Sora is not discouraged and continues to give her all for the 6-4. It is still Paolucci who dictates the rules of the game, both in service and in the management of his guns. Mauti and his teammates keep up the fight but I just manage not to let the opponent who always travels fast and several steps ahead spread. The match ends 25-18 and 3-0 for the hosts.
