During an interview with Corriere della Serathe Sicilian showman recounted an episode that happened in the Eighties, precisely in the period in which the animation chief Valtur sent Fiorello straight to the Ivory Coast.
From that experience he remembers losing 10 kg because he only ate pineapple, but he also remembers a much more painful episode. “They took me to a dentist which in those days had no electricity, this removed my tooth practically with his bare hands, with a fucking pliers. It shattered my jaw bone, I spent 15 days locked in my room with a fever, a disaster. Luckily I didn’t get malaria but the quinine left a mark on me: drug-induced hepatitis C“, said Fiorello.
