Fiocchi, the Fratelli d’Italia candidate with the rifle on the electoral posters for the European elections

The MEP of the Brothers of Italy Pietro Fiocchi, re-nominated in the elections for the European Parliament, he sparked controversy for posters of one of his electoral events which depict him holding a rifle and aiming towards a symbolic prey.

The first to raise doubts about the appropriateness of Fiocchi’s manifesto was the spokesperson and deputy of Green Europe, Angelo Bonelli. “It is the right of Giorgia Meloni who hates animals and nature. It is an image of unprecedented violence! That pointed gun is not only a threat to animals but to all of us! Behind Giorgia are these characters who only cause shame and disgust . Remember that”.

The image attracted much criticism, yet Fiocchi, who comes from a family that owns a munitions company, had already sparked controversy for a similar initiative. Last Christmas he plastered Lecco with posters portraying him sitting in front of a Christmas tree decorated with shell casings and cartridges.

At the time he defended himself by saying: “I simply meant to wish well to hunters and, in general, to the rural world.”
