Kindergartens and schools in Hammerfest will be closed on Friday after a corona outbreak in the municipality. Hammerfest Hospital is on yellow alert.
At least nine people are infected with coronary heart disease in the municipality, and on Thursday night the municipality held an extraordinary press conference in connection with the outbreak
– We are in a situation that is very serious, very confusing, and we risk a large number of infected in Hammerfest, says mayor of Hammerfest Marianne Sivertsen Næss.
– We are aware that a dozen people with symptoms have been around our municipality in the last week, she says.
NRK reports that guests who visited the nightclub Fresh in Hammerfest on Saturday are asked to contact the municipality’s infection team. The municipality suspects that the infection originated on the weekend of 8 and 9 May.
Infections have also been confirmed in Karasjok and Alta on Thursday evening. Both municipalities believe the infection originates from Hammerfest, writes Altaposten.
According to the mayor, around 200 people have been identified as close contacts. About 50 of these have symptoms.
All shops and department stores with the exception of grocery stores will be closed. The same applies to cultural and sports activities and restaurants. Grocery stores, Vinmonopolet, petrol stations and pharmacies will be open.
