The third hybrid Ro-Ro vessel of Finnlines. Finneco III was launched in China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu).
The Finneco series vessels will be 238 meters long with a load capacity of 5,800 rail meters. Compared to the company’s largest Ro-Ros today, the load capacity increases by almost 40%.
When entering traffic Finnlines, the new ships will reduce the environmental impact of the fleet and improve energy efficiency. Lithium-ion battery systems will allow clean port visits and low-emission two-stroke engines, abatement systems, solar panels and an innovative air filtration system will further reduce environmental impact.
The new construction program of 500 million euros of Finnlines includes three Ro-Ro hybrid boats and two eco-sustainable Superstar Ro-Pax. The ships will start traffic in the Baltic, the North Sea and Biscay in 2022 and the latter, on the Naantali-Langnas-Kapellskar route, in 2023.
“Our ambitious strategy to expand services is a response to growing demand. We are improving our performance and at the same time reducing the environmental impact of our fleet ”, he celebrated Emanuele Grimaldi, CEO of Finnlines.
