Finnish Prime Minister leaves European Council meeting – Jornal Económico

The Prime Minister left the European Council today and asked her Swedish counterpart, Stefan Lofven, to represent her at the meeting, which ends today in Brussels, according to a press release.

This is the third ‘casualty’ at the European Council caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which started without the presence of the Polish head of government, Mateusz Morawiecki, who was quarantined in Warsaw.

On Thursday, the chair of the European Commission President, Ursula von der Leyen, was left empty after she chose to isolate herself following a positive test among her team members.

According to European sources, the room where the leaders of the 27 gather is arranged so that the physical distance of 1.5 meters between those present is respected, as well as all others where there are meetings and the size of the delegations has been reduced in order to fewer people circulating in the building – which journalists no longer have access to.

The use of a mask is mandatory in the public areas of the building and no more than two people can be in the elevator at a time.

The rooms, cafeterias and cafeterias are clean, the doors are opened and closed by specific employees, in order to reduce the number of hands on the handles, there is disinfectant gel available on the tables and the headphones are distributed in individual packages.

The Covid-19 pandemic has already claimed more than one million and ninety-three thousand deaths and more than 38.5 million cases of infection worldwide.
