Finnegan is expanding its IP practice in Munich
The international law firm Finnegan, which specializes in intellectual property law, is building a practice for German and European trademark and design law. Janina Wortmann will join the Munich office as a partner at the beginning of 2024. The lawyer changes from Noerr.
Janina Wortmann advises companies on German and European trademark and design law and represents them in relevant legal disputes, including preliminary injunction proceedings. In addition, she supports competition, copyright and domain law mandates and advises on selective distribution systems. Their industry focus is on consumer goods and food.
Janina Wortmann is a lecturer in trademark and design law at the AMD Academy of Fashion & Design in Munich and a board member of the fashion association DTB; She regularly publishes specialist articles on legal issues in the fashion and cosmetics industry. She began her legal career in a major Anglo-American law firm and joined Noerr in 2015, where she most recently worked as an associated partner.

The first Finnegan location in Germany has almost tripled the team size since entering the market in 2022. In addition to patent infringement and legal validity proceedings before German courts, a key growth driver is the Unified Patent Court. By building a German trademark and design practice, Finnegan is expanding its global IP footprint: With five offices in the USA, four in Asia and two in Europe, Finnegan is one of the few law firms able to serve clients in all patent and trademark litigation to provide comprehensive advice and representation in relevant jurisdictions.
