Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin explained that the goal is to ensure that the border is controlled and that it is possible to influence situations that may arise at the border.

The Finnish border guard proposed to build a fence on the Russian-Finnish border in a section from 130 to 260 kilometers long.
The Border Guard revealed that the cost of the project is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of euros. Construction could take three to four years.
Some opponents criticized the cost of the project and the expected duration.
Finland has a 1,300 kilometer long border with Russia.
