Finland has decided from 2022 to increase the limit on the admission of refugees due to the seizure of power in Afghanistan by the Taliban. About it informs Yle on Thursday 18 November.
The increase in the annual quota for the reception of refugees was announced by the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Finland Maria Okhisalo. According to her, the limit will be increased to 1.5 thousand people due to the worsening situation in Afghanistan. The Minister stressed that admitting refugees within the established limits is one of the best ways to help people in trouble.
As the newspaper adds, in September 2021, the Finnish authorities planned to increase the quota for receiving refugees next year to 2 thousand people. Now the country annually accepts 1050 people according to the limits. In 2019, the quota was 850 refugees.
