Finland leads NATO exercises in the Baltic Sea for the first time

After joining NATO, the largest naval exercises began in Finland. SIA reports with reference to “Gazeta.ru” website that Finland, Sweden, Estonia, France, Great Britain, USA and NATO ships are participating in the Freezing Winds 23 (FRWI 23) exercise of the Finnish Navy.

Among the goals of the exercise is the development of the tactical capabilities of the Finnish navy.

Anders Backstrom, the commander of the freezing flotilla, said: The exercises allow to test the ability to quickly and effectively carry out joint naval operations.

He stressed that this strengthens the army’s ability to quickly react to changes in the security situation.
