FINISHED THE MONOPOLY DOES THE CONVENIENCE BEGIN? TELEPASS comparison of services and rates with UnipolMOVE – Andrea Galeazzi

The end of the monopoly of Telepass has arrived and Unipol Move takes its first steps in the sector of tolls and services related to road travel. Will this be the beginning of an era of competition and therefore better services / lower prices? Today I show you the comparison I made between the two.

Let’s start right from prices:

  • Unipol comes with 6 months free and then a fee of 1 € / month,
  • Telbepass proposes the basic offer from 1,26 € / month, la Easy a 2€ monthly and Telepass Plus with 6 months free and then € 2.50 / month.

Both have theapplication both for iOS that Android and both offer many other services in addition to paying the toll. Let’s see them better.

For what concern Telepass toll it covers the entire Italian network plus Spain, France and Portugal. Unipol at the moment it is limited only to Italy, excluding Sicily, but it will arrive.

As regards the associable plates on Telepass there are two, with Unipol only one and the second with 0.50 euros per month more.

Both allow you to pay the parking area but Telepass has an agreement with around 280 structures and Unipol still only with 60. Le Stripes blu they are excluded with the basic Telepass and included with the Plus, just as they are included with Unipol, indeed the latter also has a few more.

With Telepass there is the possibility of payment of the ferries, something absent with Unipol Move.

Both include thearea C of Milan and then there are a whole series of services available only with Telepass easy or Plus (therefore not basic) and not with Unipol:

  • the payment of fuel,
  • recharging electric cars (including 21,000 columns),
  • the payment of the stamp duty,
  • the payment of the car wash.

Unipol and Telepass, only in the Plus version, also give the possibility to carry out payments con PagoPA.

Only the Telepass Plus gives the possibility to pay Skipass and services of monopattini / bike sharing.

Let’s move on to discounts for various categories:

  • 30% discount for motorcycles only on Telepass,
  • 20% discount for both on the Pedemontana,
  • 20% discount for commuters on the Brebemi only on Telepass,
  • 30% discount for electric cars only on Telepass,
  • various other discounts on different routes with Telepass all indicated on the site.

The cancellation it is free with Telepass Plus and Unipol Move.

Finally, we enter the world of cashback, present only with Telepass:

  • we have the third recharge over 4 euros for electric cars which becomes completely free,
  • the third refueling over 20 euros is discounted by 10%,
  • the first car wash a month is free,
  • one free public transport ticket per day in Milan and Rome,
  • 60 minutes of sharing bikes / scooters and scooters.

These are all offers with a deadline at the moment but are often then renewed or new ones come out.

In short, as you will have understood I would have expected something more from the breaking of a monopoly and the beginning of competition. At the moment instead Telepass, also because of the cashback and the greater number of plans to choose from, for almost all of them in my opinion it remains the best choice.
