Fingerprint .. This is how you keep your account “WhatsApp” private.

Many are keen to secure and protect their phones by activating the unlock feature by using face recognition, fingerprints or even a passcode, but sometimes these procedures may not suffice, especially with messaging applications that may include sensitive data such as “WhatsApp”, where Messages often include sensitive personal information either about family or friends, or even about work.

The “WhatsApp” application is one of the most common messaging applications in the world, and supports many features, most notably the fingerprint security feature on Android phones, as well as locking by means of Face ID or Touch Fingerprint ID) on iPhone. This gives the user a safer way to keep their privacy and data safe.

Here’s how you can secure WhatsApp with fingerprint on Android and iOS?

First .. on Android phones

Note: The fingerprint lock feature is available on Android “fingerprint sensor” devices running Android 6.0 or later.

• Go to the “WhatsApp” application on your phone.
• Click on the three dots icon (⋮) in the upper right corner of the application interface, then click on “Settings” option.
• Click on the “account” option.
• Click on the “Privacy” option.
• Scroll down to the “Fingerprint Lock” option, and tap it.

• Activate it by pressing the switch next to it, you will be asked to confirm your fingerprint by placing your finger on the fingerprint sensor on your phone.
• Once you confirm your fingerprint, the lock feature will be activated and you will see 3 options to lock the application automatically: “immediately”, “after 1 minute” or “after 30 minutes”.

Second … on iPhone

Note: The lock feature “WhatsApp” messages via fingerprint, or “face recognition” Face ID on iPhone phones running iOS 9, or a newer version of the fingerprint, and for face recognition, it will require that your phone works with IOS 12, or a later version.

• Go to the “WhatsApp” app on iPhone.
• Click “Settings” menu.
• Click on the “account” option.
• Click on the “Privacy” option.
• Click on the “Screen lock” option, then choose the fingerprint or faceprint sensor, as appropriate for your phone.
