Fines of 1.38 million euros on 13 companies for unfair profiteering – 2024-04-06 12:06:11

Fines totaling 1,380,000 euros for unfair profiteering the Ministry of Development imposed on 13 businesses.

Specifically, after checks carried out by the services of the Ministry of Development, violations of the provisions on unfair profiteering were found, i.e. for obtaining a gross profit higher than the corresponding gross profit of 2021 in specific products from 13 different companies.

In accordance with the provisions of article 54 of Law 5045/2023, regarding the announcement of the names of companies that were fined more than 50,000 euros, the following fines were imposed as follows:

The Minister of Development Kostas Skrekas said: “The battle of our government and the Ministry of Development for the practical fight against the exactness and inflation of greed is continuous. We are not going to show any tolerance, we continue and intensify, with strict controls, the punishment of profiteering throughout the market.

All those who do not obey the law are found and pay dearly for every violation. The first positive effects of the new measures are already visible with price reductions in thousands of basic products. In any case, we are not complacent, we strengthen the control mechanisms and resolutely promote their work until all distortions in the trade area are corrected and legality and healthy competition prevail in the market, for the benefit of all consumers.”
