The highest fine that has been imposed this year is 13,000 euros. This doctor had prescribed the drugs 150 times.
The fines were imposed between July and October of this year. During the corona pandemic, the doctors involved prescribed ivermectin (against parasites) or hydroxychloroquine (against malaria) for the treatment of the corona.
For other diseases
In the Netherlands, doctors are not allowed to prescribe only medicines intended for other diseases. There are exceptions, but they do not apply to these medicines, reports the IGJ.
