The Provincial Museum of Fine Arts “Juan R. Vidal” received a donation of copies of art books. The texts were donated by Professor Marcelo Daniel Fernández and become part of the institution’s specialized art library. Those interested in viewing these works can do so from Monday to Friday, from 9 to 12 and from 17 to 20.
A series of valuable editions of art history collections, productions of the National Academy of Fine Arts, treatises, biographies of Argentine artists and on the national artistic heritage, among other volumes, constitute the donation of Professor Fernández and his wife Marta Serial.
“Professor Marcelo Fernández opened the doors of art in Corrientes. Many of us remember his journalistic publications where he brought us knowledge and brought us closer to the National Academy of Fine Arts, ”said the president of the Institute of Culture, Gabriel Romero.
Marcelo Fernández is a delegate in Corrientes of the National Academy of Fine Arts, a member of the Argentine Association of Art Critics, an honorary member of the Corrientes Journalists Association, a full member of the Corrientes History Board, a member founder of Sade Corrientes (president 2000-2003), art critic for local, national and international media (since 1969), jury member of provincial, regional, national and international plastic arts salons, jury member of literary competitions and provincial and regional theatricals, former Undersecretary of Culture of the Province of Corrientes (1977-1982), former Director of Culture of the Municipality of Corrientes, former Director of the “JR Vidal” Museum of Fine Arts (1972-74) (1991-93) , former organizing director of the Museum of Sacred Art of San Francisco (1970-1977), former delegate of the National Endowment for the Arts (1977-1982), former professor of History of Art at the Higher Institute of the Province (1983-19 90), former professional journalist (El Litoral newspaper, Corrientes, 1969-1977). Scholarship holder of the 5th Course of Cultural Projects. “G. Vargas ”(Rio de Janeiro, 1985), fellow of the 2nd OAS Cultural Administration Course, Fund for the Arts, Buenos Aires, 1987, and organizer of the First Cultural Administration Course held in the country, Corrientes, 1977.
He has traveled to various countries in America and Europe (1973/74, 1977, 1980, 1991, 2000). In 1977 he visited France and Germany, invited by Air France. In 1980 he visited the Soviet Union and Democratic Germany, invited by the respective ministries of culture. In 1991 he was invited to Nice by the Directorate General of Tourism of the Côte d’Azur (France). In 2000 he chaired a meeting of Correntino-Valencian writers in Valencia (Spain). He has published several books.
