Finding the Best Deals on Telecom Subscriptions in January: Independer.be Puts Providers to the Test

IndependerJanuary is not only a sales month in clothing stores. Anyone looking for an affordable telecom subscription can also find bargains this month. At least, that is what we read on the providers’ websites. But are those offers really that bad? Independer.be puts it to the test.

Anyone who takes a look at the Telenet, Proximus and Orange sites this month will most likely find some nice discounts on the home page. During the sales month, providers try to attract new customers with great offers. It is often the discounts on all-in bundles with TV, internet and (mobile) telephony that catch the eye.

Want to save more than 370 euros per year on your TV bill? This is how you get it done.

Do your homework: our tips

To know whether the discounts are really worth it, you have to take several things into account.

– Firstly, there are the conditions: does the discount only apply to new customers or can existing customers also benefit from it? In some cases you also have to remain a customer for a certain period to redeem your discount. In other words: read the terms and conditions carefully for each promo.

– In addition, it is best to calculate how much such an all-in bundle with an operator will cost you annually, including the associated discount. This is the only way you can compare the price with an all-in bundle with your current or another provider. It also allows you to calculate whether it is cheaper to purchase your services from different operators.

– Finally, it is important to ask yourself whether the services in the bundle sufficiently meet your personal consumption needs in the field of TV, internet and (mobile) telephony. For example, it is pointless to sign up for a bundle with high internet speed and a large amount of mobile data when you don’t actually need it.

Extra tip: You can easily see what your usage looks like on your telecom bill. Take that as a starting point for what you might or might not want in a new subscription.

Some examples of current discounts

Funny enough, we see very similar discounts from providers these days.

As a new customer, Proximus offers you a discount of 25 euros per month during the first three months of your Flex pack. Together with the elimination of installation costs, this amounts to an annual saving of 134 euros for a Flex S bundle. You will then pay 980.88 euros in the first year, while you would normally pay 1,114.88 euros.

As a new customer, anyone who takes out a Love Trio subscription with Go Light from Orange will receive a discount of 10 euros on their internet bill for the first six months and a 7 euro discount per month on their mobile phone bill for life. Together this is good for a discount of 144 euros in the first year. At Orange, the start-up costs of 59 euros are also eliminated. This way you pay 780 euros in the first year instead of 1,043 euros.

Telenet continues its discount of 5 euros per month on the Easy Internet formula for new customers for the entire first year. Normally you pay 1,024.92 euros per year for this. The promo allows you to save 60 euros. Please note: the start-up costs of 135 euros are not excluded here.
