Finding DB Case, Kediri City Government Conducts Fogging in Burengan Village and Promotes PSN – Lentera Today

KEDIRI (Lenteratoday) – Cases of dengue fever (DB) began to lurk in the city of Kediri. One case of DB occurred in the Kelurahan Burengan. The Health Office of Kediri City moved quickly, Tuesday (9/11/21) doing fogging in the neighborhood where the DB case was found.

According to data from the Kediri City Health Office, from January to November 2021, there were 66 cases of DB. This number decreased compared to 2020 which reached 160 cases. Even so, the Kediri City Government is still trying to suppress the DB case.

Mayor of Kediri Abdullah Abu Bakar advised the people of Kediri to keep the environment clean in addition to implementing health protocols (prokes). “The rainy season has arrived, so at this time the prevention of disease is not only Covid-19 but also dengue fever. I hope the people of Kediri City will continue to increase their awareness and cleanliness of the environment,” said Mas Abu

The Head of the Kediri City Health Office, Dr. Fauzan Adima, also stated that fogging was carried out depending on the findings of DB cases in the environment. “Fogging is not for anticipation or prevention, but for eradicating if there are cases at the locus. Currently, the most important thing is the Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN),” said dr. Fauzan.

Furthermore, the Head of Disease Prevention and Control, Alfan Sugiantoro, through the Head of the P2PM Section of the Health Service, Hendik Suprianto, explained about the technicalities before fogging. “Before fogging, we still have to do an epidemiological investigation of a radius of 100 houses first. Is it true that the transmission is in that environment or is it due to the mobility of the patient,” explained Hendik.

Then, the larvae and PSN will be checked before fogging is done. Several steps were taken by the Health Office considering that fogging can also have an impact on health.

Hendik also added that the community should focus on environmental cleanliness and reduce the potential for puddles around the house. In addition, periodic draining of the tub should be carried out.

The same was said by the Lurah of Burengan, Adi Sutrisno. After fogging is done in his neighborhood in RW 10/RT 1,3,4, he will further promote community service that focuses on the 3M Plus movement, namely closing, draining, burying. “Also reminding the public for environmental hygiene movements such as giving fish in water reservoirs, not hanging clothes, and much more,” he said.
