The Cuban Ministry of Public Health has published an official resolution on the authorization to import some medical supplies to the island. We tell you what they are in this article.
Remember that it has also been extended until December 31, 2023, the non-commercial import of food, toiletries, medicines and medical supplies as part of accompanied luggage.
These benefits have been extended to unaccompanied baggage and air, sea and postal shipments of natural persons, with a limit of up to 50 and 20 kilograms, respectively.
In line with these provisions, Public Health has decided to “incorporate medical supplies into these authorized imports, and extend the benefit to those made by unaccompanied baggage modalities and by air, sea or postal shipments.
Therefore, through the resolution 182/2023, authorized:
- The non-commercial importation, exempt from payment of customs tax and temporarily until December 31, 2023, of medicines and medical supplies (in original containers, see table at the end).
- Unlimited importation of these products through accompanied luggage.
- The entrance to Cuba of medicines and supplies by the modality of unaccompanied luggage is up to the limit of five hundred US dollars (500.00 USD) of the equivalent value or weight, up to fifty kilograms (50 kg).
- In the case of air, sea or postal shipments by natural persons, it is up to a limit of 200 USD or equivalent weight up to twenty (20) kilograms.
