It was Christmas Eve morning that the Innlandet police district was notified that it burned in a detached house south of Leira in Valdres.
Two people got out of the house, while a third person, a man, was not accounted for.
The house was on fire when the emergency services arrived at the scene, and the fire brigade could not enter the house due to the enormous heat. The house eventually burned to the ground.
On Christmas Day, the police report on Twitter that a dead person has been found on the fire site.
– After a fire at the site yesterday where a person was not accounted for, the police have today carried out a crime scene investigation. A dead person has been found at the fire site. Relatives of the presumed deceased have been notified.
The two who got out of the burning house must be physically unharmed.
The forensic investigations have been completed, and the police are continuing the investigation. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
– The investigation must show, it is too early to say anything about it now, says operations manager Øyvind Bakken in the Inland police district to NTB.
