Find in Vatican archives confirms suspicions about Jan Van Eyck: “Certainty about wife and region of birth”

“I found an application in the Vatican administration for a document from Jan Van Eyck and his wife Margareta,” Callewier explains to VRT NWS. “Van Eyck requests a letter that allows him to go to confession with a view to the forgiveness of his sins.”

For the sake of clarity, therefore, it concerns the administrative track of the letter. “The letter itself was delivered to Van Eyck and has disappeared.”
