The second edition of the Reims Champagne Run ended this Sunday, October 13 and brought together 15,272 runners in the different events of the weekend. Did you miss the event? We offer you a recap with everything there is to know about these two days of racing.
A sacred trail of 97 kilometers
On Saturday, the Sacré trail launched hostilities: 97 kilometers through the Champagne galipes and an arrival at the Porte de Mars. At 4:30 p.m., Rémois Esteban Garcia finished in 8h 16min and 30 seconds. Zélia Driquert finished first among the women and 4th overall.

Simionato roi du semi

Sunday opened with the half marathon. AC/DC or ZZ Top punctuated the departures and at the finish, it was a new kid who stood out. Nathan Simionato completed the 21 kilometers in 1h 07min and 14s. The resident of Creps de Reims claimed his first victory for his first half-marathon. “It’s my end of season race and I just wanted to see how a semi went,” explained the winner after his race.

A 5km to test yourself
This was new this year: the 5km Matmut #Néspourbouger. A free pace race, without official classification. A timed event in which some 2000 people participated. We come back to this new race, the start of which was given at the Champagne park right here.
The 10km to finish

Romain Besnard is in his final year at François-Arago in Reims. A high school student among many others in the city of coronations? Not so fast. At the age of 17, the Marnais was the fastest this Sunday in the 10km of Rémus. The Aÿ-Champagne licensee beat Quentin Bouvier in the finish by just two seconds.

What’s better than a victory in the 10km to celebrate your athletic club’s 120th anniversary? This thought undoubtedly crossed the Axonaise Déborah Maurice’s arrival at Porte de Mars this Sunday. She looks back on her race in our columns.
