The Waterloo-Wellington-Guelph Table de concertation (WWG) is made up of representatives of Francophone organizations and service providers as well as observer members or resource persons from the French-speaking community in this region. Our Francophone and Francophile members seek to encourage networking, strengthen their visibility and develop activities, events and resources to better serve the Francophone population.
The Table is responsible for setting up the project Welcoming community for the Waterloo-Wellington region. The project Welcoming community is funded by Health Canada and led by the Réseau franco-santé du Sud de l’Ontario. It aims to promote the reception, recruitment and retention of future bilingual professionals in the fields of health and social services in Francophone minority communities in the south of the province.
In the project context Welcoming community, the Table de concertation WWG offers students – who are studying in the field of health, social work or a related field and who live in the region – a scholarship of $ 1,500 in recognition of their contribution to the well-being of the Francophone population of the region. The scholarship recipient will be invited to participate in the discussions of the Table to encourage the inclusion of young professionals and students in the conversations that exist in the Francophone community at WWG.
The recipient of the scholarship is expected to sign an undertaking asking them to occupy a position of ambassador of the Table. More specifically, during the period covered by the scholarship, the Ambassador of the Table will be invited to participate in certain projects which will aim at the inclusion of young people and better visibility of the Table with this clientele.
This scholarship valued at $ 1,500 will be offered to a student who meets the following six selection criteria:
- The student resides in the Waterloo-Wellington region and is studying at a college or university in Ontario in the field of health or social services (such as social work, nursing, medicine, psychology, speech therapy), or in a related field;
- The student is able to provide us with proof of enrollment in a college or university in a program covered by this scholarship program (i.e., a letter of enrollment for the year of studies 2020-2021);
- Students are able to provide us with their CV (curriculum vitae) detailing their experiences and commitments in a French-speaking community;
- In the context of this scholarship, the student submits an original cover letter (of a maximum length of 500 words) which clearly demonstrates how the student intends to contribute to the Francophonie in his community (as a health professional, social services or other related field);
