(AOF) – According to Jeanne Asseraf-Bitton, Director of Research & Strategy at BFT IM, the mixed results season and the geopolitical context dominate the financial markets. “Equity markets display disparate performances, harshly punishing disappointing company results,” she underlines. Regarding the American market, she indicates that activity is resisting the rise in rates better than expected: “Household spending is increasing at the expense of savings, the rate of which fell to 3.4% in September.”
Before continuing: “The downward turn in the investment cycle is confirmed but the contribution of real estate to growth becomes positive again in the 3rd quarter. PCE core inflation is slowly falling as expected to 3.7% year in September. The Fed gauge signals a surprisingly modest deterioration in financial conditions, especially given the surge in rates.”
