Santiago Nieto Castillo, head of the Financial Intelligence Unit (UIF) of the Treasury, said this Friday that the people who appeared in the videos revealed by LatinUs will be investigated.
In these audiovisual materials, David León, a federal government official, is observed giving money to Pío López Obrado, brother of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
Nieto Castillo indicated that these two people will be investigated and also those who appear in the video that supposedly belongs to the Emilio Lozoya case.
“We cannot distinguish between one group and another. President López Obrador’s coherence in that is unquestionable. What we are going to do is initiate investigations against all the people who appeared in the videos, on the one hand, and in the document. that Mr. Lozoya presented to the Attorney General of the Republic to be able to prove or not the existence of any irregularity from the jurisdiction that falls to us, which is the analysis of the financial system, “the head of the UIF explained to journalists.
On Thursday, the videos featuring León and Pío López Obrador were released.
Later, David León assured that, while his participation in the case is being investigated, he will not protest in the position of head of the entity that the federal government will create to regulate the distribution of drugs, medical equipment and vaccines in the country.
This Friday, President López Obrador said that he already knew of the existence of the videos (which would date from 2015) and urged that they be handed over to the Prosecutor’s Office for an investigation to begin.
Regarding the resources provided, the national president pointed out that “they are contributions to strengthen the movement at a time when people were the ones who supported us.”
