Bessemer Trust, the financial institution that also supervises Britney Spears’ money, wants to stop as a trustee. The company has submitted a request to a judge in Los Angeles for this – after the emotional testimony of the American pop star last week. “We want to respect her wishes.”

Britney Spears struggled with addiction problems and mental disorders in 2008. After a series of mental breakdowns, the now 39-year-old singer was placed under the rule of her father Jamie Spears. A (complex) arrangement that “limits her freedom” and “prevents her from living a full life”. And that is why she now wants to get rid of it, as soon as possible, she testified in court last week. “I feel like a slave to my father.”
In the meantime, however, the judge rejected her request to dismiss her father as administrator. However, asset manager Bessemer Trust was appointed as co-curator. But the company already wants to stop doing so “due to changed circumstances”. During her testimony in court, Spears indicated that she wanted to completely get rid of the imposed curatorship. “We want to respect her wishes,” reads a petition that Bessemer Trust filed with a judge in Los Angeles.
The request has not yet been approved. The next hearing in the case is on July 14.
