Mr. Principal:

2023 has been a highly relevant year for technology finance companies. At the beginning, we celebrated the long-awaited promulgation of the Fintech Law, a great step in the task of reinforcing the financial inclusion of Chileans, but there is still a long way to go.

In legislative matters, the bill that creates a Consolidated Debt Registry is being discussed in Congress, an initiative that is compatible with the Fintech Law, but whose effective application could be at risk if the “right to financial oblivion” continues to advance. ” which, in addition to conflicting with the highly established concept of prescription, would harm the effectiveness of the Consolidated Debt system in terms of protecting citizens from over-indebtedness.

Having a competitive and inclusive financial system that on the one hand protects consumers and on the other rewards good payers with better credit conditions will not be possible if we have incompatible legislation on this matter.
