Financial inclusion in rural areas: BAM and the World Bank deploy the “Douar Tour” concept

Bank Al Maghrib (BAM) and the World Bank (WB) announced, Wednesday, the deployment of the “Douar Tour” concept which aims to support rural populations through capacity building in the financial decision-making process.

This concept, which is part of the “Greenback-Morocco” initiative, is deployed through targeted messages on how to obtain information to better understand the different financial services available for money transfer and their pricing, in order to make the most of the opportunities that present themselves for beneficiaries, as well as via educational tools made available to actors in the financial ecosystem and civil society to disseminate them to their target populations, indicate BAM and the WB in a joint press release.

“Douar Tour” is tested through two first pilot operations carried out on May 6 and 8, 2024 at the weekly souks of two localities in the province of Khouribga (Oued Zem and Lagfaf), reports the same source, adding that to this Indeed, a mobile agency was made available to beneficiaries to allow them to put the knowledge acquired into practice.

This new concept will be deployed during the year 2024 in 4 regions, namely Beni-Mellal Khenifra, Souss-Massa, Fès-Meknes and Oriental.
