BRATISLAVA. It improves the national image, players can show up and sell. Advancing to the 2024 European Championships will significantly help Slovak football financially as well.
“It is an important thing for us. At this moment, I cannot yet say what the number will be. One third will go to the development of football. We will definitely feel it,” said the head of the union, Ján Kováčik.
If we proceed from the past, each participant of the final tournament in Germany will receive a bonus of around ten million euros from the European Football Union (UEFA).
Football players can get additional funds at the main tournament. 1.5 million euros for winning the group, 750,000 for a draw, two million for advancing to the round of 16. Bonus money will also flow from the fulfillment of advertising and sponsorship contracts.
Advancing to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa was a historic first and caused great euphoria. Not only that.
The previous leadership of the Slovak Football Association (SFZ), headed by František Laurinc, distributed bonuses according to information available from the media (year 2011) as follows:
Of the amount of 9 million dollars (6,676,062 euros) from FIFA, up to 77 percent (5,148,178 euros) ended up in the accounts of the players, the implementation team and other officials.
They have the second half only in case of promotion
This follows from a document that was part of SFZ president Ján Kováčik’s report (he took office in September 2010) on the state of the union at the SFZ Council and leaked to the media in 2011.
Since then, there have been changes.
