Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Discusses Replacement of LPI Dewas Members With DPR Chair Puan Maharani - Consultation on Investment Management Institute Governance

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati held a meeting with DPR Speaker Puan Maharahi at the DPR Building, Jakarta, yesterday, Thursday (26/1/2024).

Sri Mulyani was present along with Deputy Minister of Finance Suahasil Nazara, Deputy Minister of BUMN Kartika Wirjoatmodjo, and Director General of State Assets at the Ministry of Finance Rionald Silaban.

Meanwhile, Puan was accompanied by the Chairman of the DPR Budget Agency, Said Abdullah, and the Deputy Chairman of Commission XI, Dolfie Othniel Frederic Palit, who are both from the PDI-P faction.

Sri Mulyani shared the moment of the meeting via her Instagram account @smindrawati today, Friday (26/1/2024). He included a statement that the meeting was related to consultations on changing the supervisory board of the Investment Management Institute (LPI).

“To consult regarding the replacement of LPI Dewas members from professional elements,” wrote Sri Mulyani on her Instagram account.

Sri Mulyani explained that this consultation was a mandate that had been stipulated in the Job Creation Law (UU Ciptaker and PP 74/2020 concerning Government Investment Institutions).

President Joko Widodo or Jokowi has also submitted two names of proposed candidates for new Supervisory Board members to the DPR via letter R-56/Pres/10/2023 dated 25 October 2023. In it there is also a mandate that these names be consulted with the DPR.

Then Jokowi, said Sri Mulyani, had also assigned himself to carry out consultations with the DPR through the Minister of State’s letter number B-988/M/D-3/AN.01.00/10/2023 dated 23 Oct 2023.

“This process is very important considering that there is one Dewas position that must be filled again this January,” wrote Sri Mulyani.

He emphasized that LPI is one of the government’s tools in carrying out development with good governance and prioritizing sustainability. Therefore, the LPI, which consists of the Dewas and Board of Directors, must be filled with people who are truly competent in their fields.

“Hopefully the entire LPI Dewas selection process can improve LPI’s performance in carrying out its great mission as the Sovereign Wealth Fund (SWF) owned by our nation…!” wrote Sri Mulyani.
