Finance Minister and Public Works Minister Joke during Presentation of 2024 Budget

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono joked when presenting the 2024 Financial Notes and Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN).

Initially, Basuki answered media crew questions about the target for the development of the National Capital City (IKN) of the Archipelago in 2024.

“The target is according to the target later in 2024. Later, if you want to see the changes at the end of the year, they will definitely change. Later, they will definitely be invited,” Basuki said at a press conference in Jakarta, Wednesday (16/8/2023).

Basuki admitted that he was protested because he had never invited Sri Mulyani to visit the IKN project site.

“I was protested by the Minister of Finance, ‘how come I was never invited to the field.’ The problem is that if you go to the field wearing a pink shirt, it doesn’t feel good either,” said Basuki.

After delivering this statement, Basuki immediately turned to his right and looked at Sri Mulyani while chuckling.

It so happened that when attending the 2023 MPR Annual Session, the DPR Plenary Session, and the press conference, Sri Mulyani wore a pink suit.

After that, Sri Mulyani presented the state budget for the IKN project in 2024.

“Next year’s IKN spending will reach Rp. 40.6 t. Including the Minister of PUPR,” said Sri.

Sri also immediately responded to Basuki’s joke regarding the field visit to the IKN.

“So later when I’m invited there I promise not to wear pink clothes,” said Sri.

Sri’s statement in response to Basuki’s joke then sparked laughter from the journalists who were in the room.
