Finance, Coop | Coop’s corporate customers must pay “pig fees”: – Goes against all practices

Corporate customers at Coop must pay digital invoices twice a month. It creates frustration in some companies.

At the Coop chain, you as a customer have the opportunity to be a Coop member. This also applies to companies. Through the scheme, you can ensure the company “better control and management of all purchases,” it says on Coop’s website.

For companies, there are several who have a business card with either Rema 1000, NorgesGruppen or Coop, so that food purchases for the company can then be made from a joint card, instead of individual employees having to pay.

– «Pig fees»

One company that uses this service is the company Nettec in Kolbotn. General manager Jan Erik Bjerkholt says Today’s business that they regularly shop at Coop in connection with lunch purchases, but that the terms are frustrating.

– Ikano charges a fee per invoice of NOK 59 despite the fact that it is electronic. And not only that, it now sends invoices twice a month. Which means that the fee is 118 kroner per month for electronic invoices! There are hefty fees, and it goes against all practice to invoice every other week. Why not change to every week, so they can earn even more, says Bjerkholt to the newspaper.

Coop’s invoicing solution for business cards:

«You receive two invoices per month. You can choose between EHF, PDF by e-mail or paper invoice in the mail. These are not interest-bearing and must therefore be paid in full. This makes the invoices easier to read, you are automatically up to date and you have full control over the company’s current consumption. The invoice fee is 59 kroner, and you have a 32-day payment deadline. “

– Relieves the costs on the end customer

Ikano Bank, to which Bjørkholt refers, are the ones responsible for collecting the business card fee for Coop. According to DN, Coop’s fees are the most expensive in the industry. Norgesgruppen requires NOK 45 for an e-invoice a month, while Rema 1000 does not require a fee at all.

– Coop will not take responsibility for this and owes Ikano Bank, but in my opinion it is Coop who is responsible for setting the terms of the service since we are a customer of Coop. Ikano only drives in the money. Either Coop must pay Ikano enough to operate the card or find another solution, instead of easing the costs on the end customer, says the general manager to the newspaper.

– Must cover what it costs

To DN, Coop’s head of communications, Harald Kristiansen, says that the reason they use this solution is to cover the costs that come with running the service and that they do not feel that they do not differ much from other players in the market.

– We have chosen a solution without fixed costs and where it is free to order extra cards. The invoicing fees referred to help cover costs for operating the solution and the benefits it provides for the companies. We do not experience that we differ much from other players in the market that offer similar solutions in terms of costs, he tells the newspaper.

DN has also contacted Ikano Bank to hear about why two invoices are sent out a month, but they would not comment on the matter further.
