Father Elie Khneisser, a meteorologist and climate expert, said that a normal summer dominated the eastern basin of the Mediterranean Sea, and that the area was satisfied for this season with 3 heat waves, which occurred at the end of April and during the month of May, and the Bekaa, Syria, and Jordan regions had the first section of great heat, and compared to the summer of 2023 it was marked by two month of scorching waves (July and August). the high humidity of the atmosphere turned into humid conditions and increased the feeling of heat.

He said: The reason for the lack of hot currents in the region at this time is the decline in the activity of the Indian monsoon depression, which was centered on the Gulf countries with pressure values ​​between 996 and 998 hpa, compared to what happened last year, when its pressure values ​​reached 988 hpa, which spread the flames of the desert to the south of Western Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East, and the summer of last year was marked as the hottest in the world.

The weather in Lebanon and the surrounding area will turn to moderate autumn in the coming days, with a slight decrease in temperature and fog forming on the mountains.

On the other hand, the number of destructive hurricanes in the seas is increasing, and their number has reached 21 from the beginning of the season so far with drowning due to the speed of the wind, heavy rain, and waves high in the Pacific Ocean.
