Apple has embedded the electrocardiogram (ECG) feature in Apple Watch since Apple Watch Series 4, but its presence is limited in certain countries.
Now, after Apple released the watchOS version 8.4 update, finally the ECG feature can be used in Indonesia. To be able to use it, users simply enter the ‘Health’ application, and enter the date of birth, then follow the various options displayed.

This ECG feature is available on Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5, Series 6, and Series 7, which already use watchOS 8.4.
The function of this ECG is to record heart activity using electrodes attached to the skin. The presence of this feature is indeed considered revolutionary, because it can be used only by wearing a watch, without the need to come to the hospital.
This ECG has previously saved users from heart failure, because it can detect an irregular heartbeat, or AFib. Then in a study it was found that this ECG monitor can detect many types of arrhythmias in its users.
Cardiac arrhythmias are disorders that occur in the rhythm of the heart. People with arrhythmias may feel their heart rhythm is too fast, too slow, or irregular.
However, the accuracy of the ECG was questioned by a cardiac electrophysiologist at Baptist Health Louisville named John Manndrola.
But according to Manndrola, many doctors will be inclined to recommend retesting for patients who have been diagnosed with an Apple Watch. This is what he thinks is dangerous for the patient.
The wrong diagnosis from the Apple Watch, according to him, will actually give you anxiety and incur unnecessary costs because you have to carry out various tests to ensure the accuracy of the feature.
