JAKARTA – The reason why Indomaret and Alfamart retail outlets are always close together has finally been revealed.
The retail outlets, each owned by the Indonesian billionaire, are always close together.
When there is an Indomaret outlet, it is certain that there is an Alfamart in the vicinity, and vice versa.
Indomaret was established in 1988, managed by PT Indomarco Prismatama, part of the Salim Group business. While Alfamart was founded in 1989, managed by PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk founded by Djoko Susanto. Both are well-known conglomerates in the country.

In the capital market, Indomarco has an associated issuer of PT Indoritel Makmur Internasional Tbk (DNET) which was listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2000, while PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk (AMRT) was listed in 2009.
Despite competing in adjacent locations, both Alfamart and Indomaret have resulted in a significant market demand.
Great demand presents the dynamics of healthy market competition.
That’s what Marketing Expert and Managing Partner Inventure Yuswohady is trying to say.
“Location is important and critical for both of them, so to be able to find a place where demand has occurred/developed, it’s not easy,” said Siwo, his nickname when contacted. MNC Portal, Jakarta, Monday (18/10/2021).
The adjacent strategy, according to Siwo, aims to build a broad market considering the dynamic consumer behavior in the retail industry.
