The draw for the first main round in the DFB-Pokal began at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, broadcast live by ARD. The former Bundesliga professional Thomas Broich drew the corresponding pairings.
VfL will face SV Werder Bremen in the first round and can look forward to the return of Felix Agu and Christan Groß. The game will be played between August 6th and 9th at the Bremer Brücke. The exact schedule will only be made in the next few days and then announced.
VfL sporting director Amir Shapourzadeh on the draw: “Cup games are always something very special, especially at home. With Werder a strong team comes to the bridge. At such an early point in the season, everything is in there for everyone. I am sure that our newly formed team will do their best to get through one lap. I’m already looking forward to this northern derby and know that our fans feel the same way. “
While VfL Osnabrück had to quit the last cup season after winning the first round at SV Todesfelde (1-0) in the second main round at Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln, SV Werder Bremen only failed in the semi-finals against RB Leipzig.

Ticket sales
Against the background of the corona pandemic and the currently unexplained situation in terms of partial admission, information about any ticket sales for the DFB Cup will follow.
If spectators are admitted to the DFB-Pokal, in addition to the holders of a lifetime season ticket, the owners of a KOMBI season ticket receive an exclusive right of first refusal.
If not all potential places are sold out, club members and holders of a FLEX season ticket can hope for tickets. All information about a possible ticket sale will be published as soon as possible.
