Final ‘The Masked Singer’ is the most watched VTM program ever | TV

No less than 2.1 million Flemish people have followed the showdown of ‘The Masked Singer’. With 2,110,316 viewers (live + explained), the final of the singing competition is the most viewed VTM program ever.

For the program, eight well-known Flemish people hitched themselves up to sing songs. A panel in the studio and the viewer at home had to guess which companies are hiding behind the suits. The final was won by Sandra Kim on Friday. This weekend it was already clear that the final was already the most viewed VTM program of the past twenty years.

With the final figures out, ‘The Masked Singer’ has broken the record of ‘Bet That?’ In 1989 that show reached 2,092,000 viewers. The top three is completed by “Gaston and Leo”, who reached 1,969,000 viewers with the episode of March 15, 1992.

In the meantime, 905,000 Flemish people have also watched ‘Behind The Mask – The Day After’ on Saturday 7 November, in which Sandra Kim, Giovanni Kemper and Kevin Janssens gave an insight into their track of The Masked Singer. Finally, The Masked Singer also posted strong figures online. In the Guessing Game on vtm.be, no fewer than 860,000 bets have been made in recent weeks.

“The record of Betting That? dates back to the early days of VTM, when there were hardly any Flemish channels, let alone digital television or streaming platforms, ”says Maarten Janssen, channel manager VTM. “It seemed almost impossible to ever break that 31-year-old record again. From the beginning in 1989, VTM has wanted to color our lives. And in these dark times, this is clearly needed more than ever. It is fantastic to see that we have been able to touch so many Flemish people with the finale of The Masked Singer. ”

Second season

‘The Masked Singer’ clearly asks for a second season, and there will be, confirms Davy Parmentier, creative director VTM. “We immediately start preparing for a new season. And that promises to be even more exciting than the first. Because we have received many spontaneous applications in recent weeks, often from unexpected sources. Which of them will soon actually get into such a suit is of course top secret. ”
