The Lorca City Council has announced that the Urban Planning Department has granted a licence to carry out works consisting of a thorough renovation and expansion of the San Diego Health Centre, which will optimise the care provided to the more than 30,000 users who are registered there, as well as increasing medical services, and also allowing the Rafael Méndez Hospital to be relieved.

As for the area for the care of the adult population, all the spaces will be renovated, that is: treatment room, extraction room, diagnostic techniques room and special techniques room.

The project has designed a double circuit for possible infectious-respiratory patients (two consultations)The air conditioning will be renovated and the ventilation centre will be equipped to guarantee optimal air quality. It will also have a home automation system, efficient and low-consumption lighting, and will be equipped with a stretcher lift, a toilet for people with ostomy bags and an adapted toilet per floor. The staff area will also be remodelled and will be equipped with two coordinators’ offices, a meeting room, a library and two training rooms, as well as changing rooms.
