The management of the VS-FILM Short Film Festival has completed the final preparations, and it is planned to be launched in the period from 3 to 7 November 2024 in the cities of Ain Sokhna, Galala, and Suez.
Actress Elham Shaheen, the honorary head of the festival, said that the activities will start on October 15 with a distribution ceremony for the best essay or critical analysis competition in the Tharwat Okasha Hall at the Academy of Arts in collaboration with the Academy of Arts with the aim of spreading the culture of watching and studying short films.
She explained that the competition is the first of its kind, and the winner of the first place will receive a financial prize of 15 thousand, the second place will receive 10 thousand pounds, and the third place will receive 5 thousand pounds.
As Dr. Osama Abunar, the head of the festival, said that the application period for the festival’s competitions closed at the end of September last year, and that the number of films submitted for participation was higher than 2,000 films, and that the festival includes a competition for films that are up to 5 minutes long and another for films that are up to 10 minutes long.
He said that the festival will honor, at its opening event, a group of Arab and foreign film personalities who are closely related to short films in some way.
For their part, Mr. Ziad Basmir, Vice President of the Festival, said that the activities will be launched in more than one place in the Suez Governorate, covering large areas of the government, with the aim of making the audience attract from the brave people. of the government to watch films or participate in seminars, master classes, and filmmaking workshops so that we can achieve the goal of launching.
He went on to say that the festival invited a number of leading filmmakers, all of whom welcomed him to participate in all festival activities, whether in jury committees or filmmaking workshops, and to the jury of the festival is led by an international cinematographer. which has won the highest awards from major festivals such as Cannes and is respected by the world’s leading filmmakers.
