Final Fantasy XVI was revealed at a Sony event i Currently, Square Enix’s production is aimed solely at one platform – PlayStation 5. The creators have announced that they want to reveal some information about the game next year, while Naoki Yoshida (producer) has already told the PlayStation blog about the basics of the new part.

The story of Final Fantasy XVI will take place in a land called Valisthea, over which stretches the crystal mountains of the Mothercrystals. Thanks to the benefits of crystals, many kingdoms that differ in culture, values ​​and customs, such as the Holy Empire of Sanbreque, Iron Kingdom or the Kingdom of Waloed, could be created and developed. There are increasing tensions between the nations that threaten the already uncertain peace.

Naoki Yoshida also features three heroes. The main character is Clive Rosfield, the firstborn son of the Archduke of one of the kingdoms, who will act as the protector (Square Enix speaks of the “shield”) of his younger brother Joshua. It is Joshua who gives Clive some specific skills, because he is referred to as the Dominant, an extraordinary being with the power of the Eikon who defends his nation. The kingdoms of Valisthea treat their Dominants differently, some worship them, others consider them a dangerous weapon. The confidant of the two heroes is Jill Warrick, who spent her entire childhood together with the princes.

As Square Enix says, on the published trailer from Sony’s presentation, we could see Eikons (Phoenix, Titan, Shiva and Ifrit), which may be associated with summons from previous Final Fantasy games. But what will happen as events unfold, and what role will these unique creatures play? As Yoshida states, we still have to wait for explanations.
