“Final Fantasy XVI: State of Play reveals over 25 minutes of epic gameplay and world-building details”

After the “Burning Shores” DLC of Horizon 2 Forbidden West earlier today, then the big 5-minute final trailer of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in the middle of the afternoon, and while waiting for the showcase of Street Fighter 6 in a few days, it’s Final Fantasy XVI’s turn to reveal a little more of its gameplay. Square Enix and Sony Interactive Entertainment had given players an appointment at 10 p.m. tonight to find out more about what promises to be the big change within the Final Fantasy franchise. Some hardcore fans speak of betrayal, others evoke the renewal that the series needed, but one thing is certain, this Final Fantasy XVI leaves no one indifferent. In this big State of Play of more than 25 minutes, the producer Naoki Yoshida proves once again that action is obviously going to take precedence in the game, with ever more spectacular sequences that have been revealed. We could indeed see the hero Clive at several times in his life, since as we know, it will be possible to follow him from his adolescence until his 30 years well packed. The moments of his youth will indeed be told in the form of flashbacks, with in particular learning in terms of the game system.

This State of Play also allowed us to see a little more of the game world, divided into several areas, knowing that it will be possible to teleport instantly as we see fit. There will be moments of respite, calmer which will allow Clive to socialize, and in this showcase, it is a camp led by Cid, one of his friends, who has been highlighted. It will be possible to improve the weapons but also the skills of Clive, to participate in his training sessions, but also to have access to secondary missions. You can even take care of your dog Talgor who will be of great help during certain fights. In short, a lot of things that were presented and added to the long list of details already leaked at PAX East a few weeks ago.

The release of Final Fantasy XVI is expected for June 22 on PS5.
