Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida has recently stated that he believes the gaming industry would be better served with one console.
In an interview translated by IGN says Yoshida that he wishes that “there was only one console” that people could play on. He does not go into more detail about the reasons for this, but believes that it would have been “better” for everyone, both consumers and developers.
Right now we have three major consoles if we don’t count PCs, and while many people like to stick to one camp, having all games on one platform has its advantages. Then there is an end to exclusivity, tribalism over consoles and much more.
On the developer side, there have also been technical issues with some of the new games being made for the Xbox Series S, as it doesn’t have the same power as the PS5 or Xbox Series X. With one console, the playing field becomes more even.
