The night before Friday was ready for The Game Awards, the show where a gaming industry collective honors and advertises upcoming products. As always, a ton of upcoming games were shown on stage, including Final Fantasy XVI, which finally got its release date.
With a new trailer, Square Enix could say that the next chapter in the Final Fantasy series will launch on June 22, 2023. The game will be exclusive to PlayStation 5.
As for the new trailer, it was basically just more than what the developer has previously shown. Various clips of film sequences, interspersed with action-packed battles.
Final Fantasy XVI takes place in a world called Valisthea. The area is made up of a bunch of kingdoms, fighting for the right to be the biggest and best.
Furthermore, we meet the protagonist Clive Rosfield, who, together with various friends, will chart their own course in all the chaos. Clive is one of many so-called Dominants, people who can summon huge Eikons to fight battles.
