Yoshida says big things are about to happen in Final Fantasy XIV. A world of adventure is coming to the game and players should especially keep an eye on what is being announced. With this, the producer hints at a new storyline that may be announced during the event in February. That event has already been unveiled by Square Enix and will reveal the path that the developer has mapped out for the game in the near future.
That route probably includes an expansion that will continue the story from Shadowbringers, but what the ‘big leap’ means is not yet known.
Is Final Fantasy XIV Making the Jump to Next Gen?
Chances are that this hints at the jump to the new console from Sony. Final Fantasy XIV actually already came out for the PlayStation 3 and previously made the switch to PlayStation 4. A new generation has now arrived with the PS5, which makes it likely that Square Enix will switch consoles one more time. The game with over 20 million players will that way even better and magical eyes and will last for a number of years for console players.
We’ll have to wait until February 2021 to find out for sure, but in the meantime we can still enjoy the events in the game that run until the end of 2020. Very soon the Heavensturn event that will ring in the new year will start in Eorzea.
