Final Fantasy XIV is in a new wave of popularity. Square Enix’s online role-playing game from 2013 has just set a new player record on Steam, too 48,476 players logged in at the same time.
The number tops the previous record of 41,200, which was set two weeks ago. It is also worth noting that players from Final Fantasy XIV’s own launcher and those who play on console are not included in the statistics.
Final Fantasy XIV has gradually become more and more popular in recent times. As among other things PCGamesN points out the latest influx of players comes after «Asmongold»Decided to test the game.
The Twitch profile, as usual for World of Warcraft on his channel, had over 200,000 viewers with him when he tried Final Fantasy XIV this weekend. Many also jumped into the game themselves to follow “Asmongold” on their adventures, and at some point apparently the whole server crashed.
In other Final Fantasy XIV news, Square has promised another big expansion for the game this fall. Endwalker offers new battles between good and evil, and features, among other things, more areas, increased level ceilings, more pit areas and a new raid.
Final Fantasy XIV is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, with the ability to play across all platforms.
